The bearing assembly consists of a cap shaped housing (4) with accurately concentric inside and outside dias. A felt ring (5) is first mounted in the cap, followed by a flat ring (3) which traps the felt ring. A ball bearing (2) is next mounted in the housing and secured by spinning over the edge of the housing. The whole assembly is mounted on the end of a shaft, while the cap fits in the bearing housing in a motor or generator end plate. The corners of the bearing housing are rounded, so that when the shaft with bearing housing is removed, the carbon brushes slide over the corners.
