EFFLUENT DISPOSAL SYSTEMS

An appts. for separating solids from liqs. in effluent disposal systems incorporates an inclined perforated screen on to which the effluent flows from a tank. The liq. passes through the screen in a spray and is recirculated, while the solids pass over the screen. The screen may be a single panel with several sections, or it may incorporate several panels, staggered or overlapping, adjustable angularly, with side walls. The suspension of solids in liq. is fed to the elevated tank by mechanical means, e.g. pumping. A supplementary liq. e.g. a coagulant, may be added to the effluent. Used partic. for systems handling effluents from byres, piggeries, stable and the other places where animals are kept. The system is automatic, easily put into operation, efficient and requires little maintenance. Little odour is produced and abad weather has little effect. There are no mechanical parts in the animal quarters.
