Present methods of storage of the necessary records for reading out a heart-rate histogram are based on the use of magnetic tape, and have capacity for only about a day. By using a digital electronic store, the period of storage may be increased to a week or, in a more economical use, a month. The store is preferably separate from the evaluation unit. The apparatus includes a counter connected to an oscillator which may be triggered by a start and test device. This device is operated by a start button. The apparatus also includes a two-way counter.
