1519606 Olefin polymerisation catalysts BASF AG 21 Nov 1975 [23 Nov 1974] 47946/75 Heading BIE [Also in Division C3] Catalysts are made by depositing chromium trioxide or a precursor therefor on a silica xerogel and calcining the composite at 400- 1100‹C, the xerogel having a particle size of 10-2,000Ám and having been made by decationizing a solution of a silicate, adding an aluminium salt to the solution of silicic acid which is formed, forming a gel, extracting water with a solvent and drying. The catalyst may be used in the production of polyethylene. |
