<p>1522676 Clipping bags RHEEM MFG CO 10 Sept 1975 [7 April 1975] 37277/75 Heading B8C Clipping apparatus, e.g. for bags comprises a clipping punch 18 operated by a reciprocating rod 40 and a gate 24 for gathering the material to be clipped, the gate being linked to the rod 40 through a lost motion mechanism so that the material is gathered together before clipping takes place. The punch slides through a guide channel 16 and clipping takes place on a forming die 30. The lost motion mechanism consists of a pin 58 located in a slot 52, 54 in a member 50 pivotally linked to the gate 24 and also located in a further slot 62 in a plate 64 fixed to the frame of the apparatus. The rod 40 is driven by a pneumatic piston and cylinder. A pivotable knife (98), see Fig. 2, not shown, may be provided to cut the material after clipping, which may also be operated pneumatically. A pneumatic control circuit, Fig. 4, not shown, may be provided with a delay mechanism so that cutting takes place after clipping. The control circuit may be actuated by a lever (73), Fig. 2, not shown, which is moved when material is inserted into the machine. The delay may be adjusted by an adjustable orifice. A clip feed mechanism and a clip blow-out means may also be operated by the control circuit.</p> |
