<p>The range measuring equipment comprises a transmitter assembly consisting of three sets of coils mounted at right-angles to each other and each driven from its respective generator (1-3). Two of the three coils are driven at the same frequency but with 90 deg. phase-shift. The third is driven at a frequency differing from the first by a given value. A receiver assembly comprises three similar crossed coils, each connected to its respective receiver. Each receiver contains an amplifier, bandpass filter and demodulator stage. The output of each receiver is connected to an adder. The summed signal passes through a low-pass filter to remove the frequency difference component. The signal is then finally linearized and is proportional to the distance between the transmitter and receiver sites.</p> |
