<p>The invention provides an apparatus for loading and compressing solid waste in a box-like structure mounted on a road-vehicle for the collection and the transportation of said waste, the apparatus comprising a lifting shovel hinged so that one of its ends is pivotable between a first position adjacent the mouth of the box-like structure and a second position clear of said mouth, a hinged compressing shovel for pushing material into said structure from said lifting shovel, the two shovels being pivotally connected to two points on the periphery of a shaft rotated by a drive, said points lying in different planes that are at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the rotating shaft.</p> |
