Disclosed are a left and right hand mode determination method and apparatus, and a terminal device. The method comprises: in a process of fingerprint unlocking, a terminal acquires a pattern formed by a user's finger on the terminal by means of a fingerprint recognition apparatus; and the terminal recognizes the acquired pattern, unlocks the terminal according to a recognition result and determines whether a single-hand mode that should be used after the terminal is unlocked is a left hand mode or a right hand mode. By means of the technical solution of the present invention, a terminal acquires a pattern formed by a user's finger on the terminal by means of a fingerprint recognition apparatus and can automatically recognize a left and a right hand mode while unlocking the terminal, without manually setting a left and a right hand mode by a user, so that manual resources are saved, an operation of switching between a left and a right hand mode frequently performed by a user is avoided, and the switching efficiency between a left and a right hand mode is effectively improved. |
