The steering gear housing in a passenger motor vehicle is connected to front axle carrier. This housing is held by a compact and accurately positioned holder. The steering gear housing (1) has fastening flanges (8) which reach between vehicle body parts (15, 16) and front axle (13). The flange fastening bolts pass through the front axle and a centering arrangement. An additional flange (21) is connected to support (22) on front axle carrier (13).
