<p>NEW MATERIAL:5-Benzoyl-2-thiophenealdehyde of formula I [X is oxygen atom or acetal group (e.g., dialkoxy as dimethoxy, diethoxy, or substd. or unsubstd. alkylenedioxy as 1,2-ethylenedioxy or 1,3-propylenediosy) and their derivatives. USE:Intermediates capable of producing safely thioprophenic acid in high yield that is useful as an anti-inflammatory analgesic. PREPARATION:The acetal derivative of 2-benzoylthiophene is reacted with a lithiolation agent as n-butyllithium, lithium diethylamide and then treated with dimethylformamide or dimethylbenzamide to form the acetal derivative of the objective compound of formulaI. Then the acetal protecting group is hydrolyzed with an acid to yield the objective compound of ketone form.</p> |
