The invention relates to a method for treating a seasonal influenza in a human, comprising unit dosage form intravenous administration of 300-800 mg of peramivir of formula Ia or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof to the human. The invention also relates to a method for inhibiting neuraminidase in a human by administering said dose of peramivir and to the use of peramivir in the manufacture of a medicament for treating a seasonal influenza.
