PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconductive cable cooling device which effectively utilizes an evaporative refrigerant occurring during pre-cooling process of a superconductive cable to improve performance of a refrigeration machine and cool a refrigerant gas to a sub-cool temperature in a short time, and to provide a superconductive cable cooling method.SOLUTION: A superconductive cable cooling device includes: an evaporative refrigerant supply line 51 which is branched from an exhaust line 43 and configured to flow an evaporative refrigerant; a temperature sensor 44 which is provided in the exhaust line 43 and detects a temperature of the evaporative refrigerant led out from a superconductive cable 27; and a control device 59 which discharges the evaporative refrigerant from the exhaust line 43 to the atmosphere when the temperature detected by the temperature sensor 44 is higher than a predetermined temperature and supplies the evaporative refrigerant to an evaporative refrigerant supply line 51 when the detected temperature is lower than the predetermined temperature.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
