PURPOSE:To enable recording medium surface to be cleaned during the use of the apparatus and achieve longer life of head and media and higher fidelity of recording and reproducing by guiding the air flow induced by the rotation driving of an impeller to the surface of the magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION:When a rotary magnetic head device 11 is driven, an impeller 30 is also rotation-driven together with the device 11, by which air flow is induced in a housing 33. This air flow passes in the air flow path formed by the housing 33 so as to blow out the air being drawn through the opening 40 provided to the upper wall 38 of the housing 33 from the respective air ventilation openings 34, 35 provided to the end portions of respective lead-out pipes 36, 37 and is guided up to the tape surface 15a of an open magnetic tape 15. As a result, the dust and magnetic material powder or the like having deposited on the tape surface 15a are removed. |
