To the starting material containing at least 10 percent of SiO2 and 25 percent of Al2O3, limestone and small quantities of metallic desoxidants are admixed, and having been clinkerized at a temperature of 1,250 DEG to 1,420 DEG C it is cooled abruptly with air and/or water to a temperature of about 700 DEG C. The extracted product can be used for alumina production, the residue for cement production.
