PURPOSE:To attempt extension of cathode life, by means of an auxiliary heater outside the cathode heat generating block, which may be also used for securing thermally steady condition. CONSTITUTION:Install a pair of support electric pole 12, 13, at a certain interval on insulation base 11, and provide LaB6 cathode 15 supported between these support poles via heat generating block 14 such as pyrolitic graphite etc. Fix heat generating block 14 and cathode 15 together, by pressing, as holding them in this configuration with screw 16 and 17. Also install on base 11, auxiliary heater 18 around support electric pole 12, 13 and this heater 18 is fitted on base 11 by means of electric pole 19, 20. Use such heater 18, in this case, as generating heat quantity approximately equal to that of heat generating block 14. Thus, life of a cathode may be extended. |
