The sheet-metal duct section has a rectangular cross-section. Its side walls have a zigzag shape in a longitudinal section through the section, with sharp profile bends (9a, 9b) extending parallel to the transverse direction of the duct section over the entire width of the side walls. The inclination of the individual zigzag areas (10) of each side wall to their centre plane is 0.2 DEG to 3 DEG . The peak height of the zigzag shape of each side wall, in relation to the side-wall centre plane, is no more than 1/100 of the dimension of the duct cross-section perpendicularly to the centre plane. Reinforcement of the wall is achieved while impairing the flow through the duct very little and permitting branches to be connected in a simple manner. <IMAGE>
