<p>The invention concerns selective separation membranes suitable for blood dialysis and a method or producing such membranes. The membranes are made up of etbylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer particles having an average diameter in the range of 100 to 10,000 Angstrom units, the particles being bonded to each other in such a manner that the resulting membrane is substantially free of pores in excess of 2 microna in diameter. The method of preparation involves dissolving the copolymer in a solvent consisting essentially of dimethyl sulfoxide, dimethylacetamide or a mixture thereof, and then causing the resultant solution to coagulate into a shaped article in a coagulation bath in not less than three seconds.</p> |
