PURPOSE:To prepare the title composition having excellent flame-retardancy, moldability and processability, without lowering the polymerization degree of the polyamide, by polymerizing polyamide monomers in the presence of water, melamine and cyanuric acid. CONSTITUTION:Melamine and essentially equi-molar amount of cyanuric acid are added to monomers of a polyamide such as nylon 6, nylon 66/6, etc. The sum of the melamine and cyanuric acid added is 4-15wt% of the polyamide monomers. The monomer mixture is polymerized in the presence of water, and if necessary, a viscosity stabilizer such as a monocarboxylic acid, and a reaction accelerator such as epsilon- aminocaproic acid, in an inert gas atmosphere at 220-290 deg.C for several to 20 hours. |
