<p>NEW MATERIAL:A 7beta-[2-(2-amino-5-halo-4-thiazolyl)-2-alkoxyiminoacetamido]- 3-cephem- 4-carboxylic acid of formula I: (Hal is halogen; R<1> is H, amino-protecting group; R<2> is alkyl group; R<3> is H, carboxy-protecting group), its derivative wherein the amino or the carboxy group is protected. USE:Medicines effective against diseases caused by Gram-negative bacteria, e.g. coliform bacilli or Friedlander's bacilli, and Gram-positive bacteria, e.g. hemolytic streptococci. PROCESS:The compound of formula I can be obtained as follows: (a) A compound of formula II is reacted with a compound of formula III. (b) A compound of formula IV is reacted with an O-alkylhydroxylamine of the formula H2NOR<2>. (c) A compound of formula V is decarbonylated.</p> |
