Furnace, preferably for ceramics and comprising a furnace compartment 4 and a pressure burner 13 in one of the end walls of the furnace. The ceiling and the end walls of the furnace are provided with shielding walls 19-21 such that gaps 25, 26 are formed for the gases of the burner between said shielding walls and the corresponding outer walls. The gases are firstly carried through the furnace compartment and subsequently through gaps to an exhaust pipe 11 having a choke 12.
