PURPOSE:To reproduce a copy image free from ghost image, by applying an electric field of the reverse polarity of the primary charging before or after the primary charging, and forming a space charge uniformly in the photoelectric conductive layer, and removing the image memory. CONSTITUTION:Before charging a photosensitive drum 1 uniformly primarily by means of a primary charger 2, an electric field of the reverse polarity of the primary charge is applied on the photosensitive drum 1, which is made of surface insulating layer, photoelectric conductive layer, and conductive layer, in three layers in all, by means of a corona discharger 18 of negative polarity, etc., then the potential on the photoelectric conductive layer is converged in a constant saturated potential by the avalanche phenomenon by the charge charged on the drum 1. As a result, a space charge is uniformly and evenly formed in the photoelectric conductive layer, and the residual image memory of the previous photoconductive layer is erased, and the residual history on the photosensitive drum 1 is erased. Therefore, an intermediate copy image free from ghost due to remaining history on the photosensitive drum may be reproduced. Or, the same effect may be obtained when the discharger 18 is located behind the charger 2, between the charger 2 and the secondary corona discharger 3 for forming latent image by exposure. |
