PURPOSE:A readily transportable energy storing medium having a large storing density and good thermal conductivity, comprising a liquid compound obtained by reacting sodium iodide with ammonia gas. CONSTITUTION:Solid sodium iodide (S) is sealed up in a pressure vessel, and ammonia gas is slowly introduced into and reacted with S in vacuo at a partial pressure of ammonia >=1kg/cm<2> while removing the amount of heat produced at 30 deg.C to give a liquid compound. The pressure is reduced at 30 deg.C to cause the absorption of heat by endothermic reaction reversibly. |
