The panoramic X-ray machine is for dental applications and uses a mechanism linking the machine to the dentist's chair to produce both continuous and invidual X-rays. The chair and the mechanism is mounted on a fixed platform with a column and a tubular head with the X-ray source. The camera contains a moving film and is rotated around the patient in a circular motion. The support mechanism displaces the chair in the X direction after the excitation of the source has been switched off. The columnis rotated around the patient and an X-ray is taken when the source and the film are aligned with the final column of the patient.
