A process for exploiting leucites and eclogites on an industrial scale is described, according to which the leucites and/or the leucite-bearing rock, possibly enriched with a concentrate of high titanium dioxide (TiO2) content, extracted from eclogite-bearing rock, are subjected to a chlorination treatment in the presence of a reducing agent, consisting of a carbonaceous material which contains from 3 to 10% of sulphur. The carbonaceous agent consists essentially of bituminous and/or sub-bituminous coal. The chlorination step is carried out at a temperature between 700 and 1200 DEG C and under a pressure between atmospheric pressure and 5 atmospheres.
|
