The method comprises: a portable electronic device displaying a photo wall on a display screen, wherein the photo wall comprises m landscape photo frames and n portrait photo frames; then determining the type of a photo to be displayed, and if the photo to be displayed is a landscape photo, displaying the photo to be displayed in one photo frame of the m landscape photo frames on the photo wall; and if the photo to be displayed is a portrait photo, displaying the photo to be displayed in one photo frame of the n portrait photo frames on the photo wall. In the method, by determining the type of a photo to be displayed, a portrait photo can be displayed in a portrait photo frame and a landscape photo is displayed in a landscape photo frame, so that it can be ensured that each photo is displayed to a user with the best effect.
