PURPOSE:To enhance the data read rate, by detecting that the magnetic head has passed through the position, where the division part of plural data blocks is read, to process the block unit of read data. CONSTITUTION:If a detector outputs a head passage detection signal when the magnetic head is reading the division point between the first and the second blocks of magnetic stripes, quantizing circuit 206 quantizes this signal and resets read data start FF204, and therefore, bit counting circuit 205 stops the operation, and output of a character segmenting signal to main control part 73 is stopped. The quantization output of circuit 206 is input to main control part 73 to cause main control part 73 to decide that head 18 has passed through the division point of stripes, and main control part 73 is caused to complete the processing for the first block and start the processing for the second block. Read of the second block is started by detection of the first character, and character data is transmitted to main control part 73. As a result, the data read rate can be enhanced. |
