PURPOSE:To eliminate erroneous action of the liquid leakage detector and improve the reliability thereof by arranging an opticalfiber whose light permeative property is impaired at high temperature or chemical variations at the lower part of a pipe for liquid, and varying the quantity of light of a light redeiving element when a liquid leaks. CONSTITUTION:At the lower part of a pipeline 1 for liquid covered with a heat retaining material 2, there is arranged an opticalfiber 11 consisting of a core 12 and a clad 13 using plastics encroached by a substance of a high temperature or a strong chemical reactivity. When a liquid leaks from the pipline 1, the core 12 and the clad 13 to which the liquid directly or accumulated in a sourcer 18 adheres are encroached and damaged, and therefore light emitted from a luminous element 14 is not transmitted to a light receiving element 15 through the opticalfiber 11. Therefore, the reduction in the liquid receiving element 15 is detected as a light receiving quantity at an extraordinary time in a comparison circuit 16 to generate an alarm 17. By these procedures, it is possible to obtain a detector which can be installed along any of the complicated configurations of pipelines and machines or apparatuses and has a high reliability. |
