PURPOSE:To obtain a polishing roll whereby even, uniform and highly precise polishing can be performed by a method wherein the surface cutting is applied by a grinder to the polishing roll in the state that it is expanded to the effective outer periphery through the rotation thereof when nonwoven fabric to which polishing particles are attached is formed into the polishing roll. CONSTITUTION:A polishing roll 1 is rotated and a grinder 3 rotating at higher speed than the polishing roll 1 is made to touch the surface of the polishing roll 1 rotating, whereby the surface of the roll is cut so as for the roll to be formed into a column in the form of a genuine circle. The polishing roll 1 thus formed is shaped into a genuine circle by the centrifugal force when it is rotated for operation, while there is found no uneven projection of fibers on the polishing surface. Thus, a workpiece to be polished can be polished with high precision and evenly and uniformly. |
