PURPOSE:To prevent a funnel or frit glass layer from cracking, by surrounding a sealed part of the funnel to a face panel with a metallic annular body and filling thermo-setting resin containing fine grains of cork to between the sealed part and metallic annular body. CONSTITUTION:A plate-shaped face panel 9 and funnel 10, which are sealed through a frit glass layer 8, form a cathode-ray tube bulb 11, then a mutually sealed part of the face panel 9 and the funnel 10 is surrounded by a metallic annular body 12 simultaneously thermosetting resin 13, containing about 8wt% cork power in 80 mesh, is filled to between said sealed part and annular body. Accordingly as the thermo-setting resin 13, though it is closely contacted also to the frit glass layer 8, causes a relatively small value of the hardness and expansion coefficient of the hardened resin 13 due to the fine grain of the cork, a hazard for a crack to be caused in the funnel 10 or the frit glass layer 8 due to the hardened resin 13 can be eliminated. |
