<p>The novel inorganic monomer complexes are prepd. by reacting, in aqs. medium, >=1 non-alkali metal selected from Gps. 1-8, an alkali hydroxide, and a source of reactive NH2 gps., according to the following stages: a given amt. of the non-alkali metal is placed in a reactor contg. the aqs. medium, followed by the source of reactive NH2 gps., and then the alkali hydroxide so as to effect intimate contact between the alkali ions and the non-alkali metal ions and produce a pH of 14 at the localised surface immediately next to the non-alkali metal. The non-alkali metal thus erodes producing non-alkali metal ions in the reaction medium which ions then react with the alkali metal ions and the reactive NH2 gps. to produce the inorganic monomer complex. The alkali hydroxide is added in amt. sufficient to bind the NH2 gps. in a total endothermic reaction with the alkali hydroxide and with the non-alkali metal. At the end of the reaction, all unreacted non-alkali metal is removed. Used in the prodn. of soaps or washing formulations, and in plating solns., using aqs. solns. of the inorganic polymer complex. The corresponding polymer complexes are obtained as above, but an exothermic reaction is initiated in the reactor, to give increased erosion of the non-alkali metal resulting in the formation of the polymer complex.</p> |
