PURPOSE:To form a picture having a water resistance, by a method wherein recording is done by ink jet on a recording medium containing a polycationic high-molecular electrolyte using a water ink containing water-soluble dyes. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of a polycationic high-molecular electrolyte, such as polyvinylpridinium halide or polyethyleneimine, is applied on a recording medium and dried. In the meantime, ink is prepared from a water-soluble direct dyestuff, such as C. I. Direct Black, or a water-soluble acid dyestuff, such as C. I. Acid Red or C. I. Yellow, as well as other agents, such as a wetting agent, a dyestuff dissolving agent, an antiseptic and an antimold. Ink is caused to collide with the recording medium by ink jet for adhesion to form a dot picture, whereby a reactive group in the ink and a polycation contained in the recording medium are combined together to form a water-insoluble salt on the surface of the recording medium, and, as a result, a water proofness of a picture can be improved. |
