PURPOSE:To effectively recover sensitive heat held in a strip by a method wherein heat exchange between unheated strip and red-hot strip is performed through heat- exchange rolls. CONSTITUTION:In a continuous strip annealing furnace, a strip to be annealed is guided through pay-off reel 1 and looper 2 into heat-exchange zone 3. Meanwhile, red-hot strip heated in heating zone 6 and soaking zone 7 is again introduced into the heat-exchange zone 3. In the heat-exchange zone 3, the red hot strip 11 is adjusted by flexible press rolls 12 in its contact area with heat-exchange rolls 4 so that part of sensible heat is transferred to the heat-exchange rolls 4. Likewise, the cold strip 13 moving in the reverse direction is adjusted by press rolls 14 to be preheated by the heat-exchange rolls 4. Because the strips 11, 13 between the heat- exchange rolls are in close proximity each other, heat can be exchanged by radiation. In this manner, senisble heat is effectively utilized. |
