PURPOSE:The titled resin composition exerting high flame retardancy while keeping excellent physical properties of the resin, which is prepared by compounding an organic halogen compound, a xylene resin, and sulfur and/or a sulfur-containing antioxidant, with a thermoplastic resin. CONSTITUTION:The titled composition is obtained by compounding (B) about 2-30pts.wt. organic halogen compound (e.g., hexabromobenzene or pentabromotoluene), (C) about 0.2-30pts.wt. xylene resin (e.g., axylene-formaldehyde resin or a mesitylene-formaldehyde resin), and (D) about 0.1-15pts.wt. sulfur and/or sulfur-containing antioxidant (e.g., zinc dimethyl-dithiocarbamate), with 100pts.wt. thermoplastic resin such as polystyrene or a styrene-butadiene copolymer. The resin composition is suitable as a material for electrical appliances automobiles, building materials, etc. |
