PURPOSE:To remove foreign matter, such as dust, on the surface of a positioning jig equipped with two blocks forming two crossing planes and a vacuum suction groove, by forming an infinity of pores in two planes of the jig. CONSTITUTION:Optical fiber positioning jig 1, consisting of two blocks 6(7) having mutual crossing planes 4 and 5, is equipped with vacuum suction groove 9 and suction pipe 11, and two optical fibers 2(3) are sucked under a vacuum to meet those two planes 4 and 5,and then connected permanently. Surfaces 4 and 5 are provided with a porous metallic plate or porous ceramic plate by bonding it, or given pores 13 by chemical etching, etc. Foreign matter, such as dust, on surfaces 4 and 5 can be removed by being scraped off into independent air bubbles or pores 13 easily, so that their connection losses can be reduced. |
