Compounds useful as intermediates for the preparation of therapeutically valuable 2,6-dialkoxybenzamides, which intermediates are characterized by the general formula wherein R1 is an alkyl group with 1-3 carbon atoms. Said compounds being useful as intermediates for the preparation of new antipsychotic 2,6-dialkoxy-benzamides and subsequent pharmeutical preparations.
