<p>IMPROVED SPLASH BAR FILL ASSEMBLY FOR COOLING TOWER Disclosed is a splash bar for a splash bar fill assembly of a parallel air flow-type crossflow cooling tower. The splash bar is for mounting in substantially horizontal orientation in the fill assembly, and comprises a longitudinally extended relatively thin horizontal section having an obverse face, a reverse face and first and second lateral margins, and including perforations between the obverse face and the reverse face. The bar has a longitudinally extended relatively thin rib section of rectangular cross-section, the rib section having first and second opposing faces and third and fourth lateral margins with the third margin longitudinally adjoining the obverse face between the first and second margins. The rib section is disposed upwardly transverse of the horizontal section for adding vertical structural rigidity to the horizontal section. The height of the rib section is greater than the thickness of the horizontal section. The bar further has a longitudinally extended diverting means having an upper surface and a generally opposing lower surface with fifth and sixth lateral margins, the lower surface longitudinally adjoining the fourth margin. The upper surface of the diverting means is disposed laterally obliquely of the horizontal section. The first and second margins are extended laterally of the fifth and sixth margins, and the fifth and sixth margins are extended transverse of the rib section for directing liquid which falls onto the diverter means laterally onto the obverse face.</p> |
