PURPOSE:To obtain the titled tube with a high dimensional accuracy by a method wherein an elongate tube of silicone rubber having thermal recovery properties is heated by a liquid heating medium, then it is introduced into a forming pipe and is enlarged in diameter by the pressure of a fluid fed into the interior thereof from an end thereof. CONSTITUTION:The elongate tube 1 of silicone rubber having the thermal recovery properties is heated uniformly to the optimum molding temperature in a heating tank 3 by using the liquid heating medium which has a boiling point of between the softening point of the rubber and the pour point of the rubber, inclusive, and which can be easily removed by washing with water (e.g., glycerol, ethylene glycol, propylene glycol or the like). Then, the tube 1 with the heating medium adhered thereto is fed into the forming pipe 10, where it is enlarged in diameter to the inside diameter of the pipe 10 by the pressure of air being fed into the interior thereof, and the enlarged tube is cooled. The tube thus formed is introduced into a water tank 6, where the heating medium on the surface of the tube is washed away and the tube is cooled completely by running water. The tube is then wound up around a winding drum 9. |
