PURPOSE:To assure sufficient abrasion resistance without degrading heat conductivity by forming a chrome plated layer on the respective plating layers of surfaces. CONSTITUTION:Single plating layers 12A, 12A are applied on both side areas 12, 12 in the upper part 10A on the surface of a mold piece 10 by leaving its central area 11, and plural plating layers 13, 14 on the entire area in the lower part 10B. A chrome plating layer 15 is formed on these plating layers 12A, 12A, 13, 14 and the plating layers 12A, 13, 14 of the entire surface area including the central area 11. In this case, these are so constituted that the strokes S1, S1 of short pieces at the changing of strand widths are included within the spread areas of the both side areas 12, 12 of the upper part 10A of the surface. Thereby, damaging of the mold pieces is prevented in continuous casting accompanying automatic width changing of strands, without degrading the heat conductivity in the upper part of the mold pieces. |
