X=ray film cassette transport mechanism - is coupled to counter-weight via transmission and varied in dependence on cassette dimensions

The transport mechanism (6,7) uses a counter-weight (23,24) moved in synchronism with the forward and return movement of the film cassette to and from the recording position. The counter-weight (23,24) has a separate setting drive (27-34) with the conversion ratio between the transport mechanism (6,7) and the setting drive (27-34) being varied in dependence on the size of the X-ray cassette being handled. The transport mechanism comprises a cassette carriage (5) moved via a cable drive (6,7) and coupled to the counter-weight (23,24) via a pivoted lever (32) which has a variable lever arm length adjusted in dependence on the cassette size. The transport mechanism allows exposure of the X-ray films at the max. rate.
