<p>The uprights (17,18) of the framework inside the hold have four box section struts welded into a star shape to locate the corners of the containers, with a hollow space up the centre. The horizontal supports are secured to the uprights with corner plates (12) to prevent the whole structure from twisting. The edges of the framework are linked to the hull by elastic clamps. The framework is assembled from a number or struts normally stored in a compact space. No protruding fittings are required inside the hold so that it can be used for bulk cargo without fouling the inserted hoists. The strengthened structure prevents jamming of the containers through twisting.</p> |
