Continuous tree-planting method - forces spoil back into trench after placing trees in position

The method is for planting trees and similar plants, a planting trench of the necessary width and depth being continuously excavated. The trees are inserted in the trench at the desired intervals, and the spoil excavated is then forced back under pressure into the trench again. An initial pair of ploughshares can be used to mark out the trench width, lifting a relatively small quantity of earth out, these being followed by a main plough dividing the trench down the middle and excavating it to the desired depth.
