<p>PURPOSE:To compress multilevel picture data efficiently, by performing the run length encoding in a section of a constant density level and by performing the encoding corresponding to a density level difference in a section of a variable density level. CONSTITUTION:Since scanning steps 0-3 are in a section of continuity of the white level, they are encoded to ''010'' of the Weyl code. Since scanning steps 3-7 are in a section of continuity of the change of the density level and the scanning length 4 and levels are 3, 5, 6, and 7, they are encoded to ''1110'' of the bit by bit code and ''011, 101, 110, 111'' of the density level code. Since scanning steps 7-9 are constant in the density level 7, they are encoded to ''10'' of the mix code. Other sections are encoded similarly.</p> |
