PURPOSE:To eliminate a trouble of drivability or the like in an engine due to a rapid change of ignition energy in an ignition device where spark ignition and plasma ignition are performed in a single cylinder, by controlling the ignition energy so as to gradually change when the plasma ignition is started or stopped. CONSTITUTION:In the state of an engine operated by performing only spark ignition, an operating state detector 32 opens a switch 26 with a switch control signal (b) as 1, then only high voltage generator circuits 21a, 21b generate high voltage and a spark ignition plug 6 and plasma ignition plug 7 in each cylinder perform spark ignition by distributor parts 20, 25. In the state of the engine operated at a low or middle load when plasma ignition is performed, the detector 32 deects this state to feed a signal (c) to a capacitor capacitance controller 31. Then the switch 26 is closed, and capacitance of a capacitor 28 is gradually increased due to an output (a) of the controller, then a low voltage generator circuit 23 gradually increases output voltage of a terminal 23a. Accordingly, plasma gas is jetted from the plug 7 to perform plasma ignition. |
