A temp. sensor, e.g. thermistor, is mounted on the rotor of the squirrel-cage induction motor. The transmitter is powered from a transformer on the rotor. The transformers one turn primary is formed by two adjacent bars(14) of the rotor winding. Secondary windings (29) are positioned on yoke members under each bar. The yoke members join core sections(25-29) on either side of each bar. A transmitter on the rotor is controlled by the temp. sensor and transmits a signal of predetermined characteristics when the temp. exceeds a predetermined value. A stationary receiver deenergises the motor in response to the signal.
