PURPOSE:To improve grinding efficiency, reduce wear, and accomplish highly accurate finishing without need of machine-finishing by using a grinding disc with an electrical conductive material installed in grooves provided on both front and back surfaces of the disc. CONSTITUTION:Grooves 2 extending from the center hole 4 to the circumferential end 3 of a grinding disc 1 are provided on both front and back surfaces of the disc 1 in such a manner that the ends of grooves 2 appear at alternate positions on the circumferential end surface 3. These grooves 2 are filled with an electrical conductive material. As a result, the circumferential end surface 3 of the disc 1 is composed of electrical discharge zone 6 and grinding zone 5. The disc 1 is driven with electric current passed between a collector plate 7 and the work to be ground with electrolyte simultaneously sprayed on the disc 1. Consequently, electrical discharge occurs between the discharge zone 6 and the work so that both electrolytic machining and grinding are performed in alternate short periods of time. |
