The process obtains thread-like elements from sheet metal and may use a shearing operation to divide the sheet into elements of a polygonal cross section, the elements being used to reinforce concrete etc. Stage-rolling may cause sideways displacement of the metal, resulting in the formation of parallel lengths of metal. The rolling entails forcing the sheet through successive pairs of fluted rollers. Flute geometry may determine the cross-sectional profile of the finished elements, and rolled elements may remain connected over their whole length or at certain points. Subsequent shaping and cutting to length may complete the process.
|
