Case 4284 INCORE POWER LIMIT CONTROL TECHNIQUE Methods are disclosed for adjusting the value of a setpoint used for monitoring or limiting local power density in a nuclear reactor core having plural fuel element assemblies and uniformly distributed incore flux sensors. A local power signal derived from an incore flux sensor is compared to limiting power signals within a selected core volume. The signals are compared and a minimum margin is determined. The value of a setpoint associated with the sensor of the local power signal is adjusted as a function of the minimum margin.
