PURPOSE:To enhance the efficiency of a propelling apparatus and to prevent the contact damages when the ship comes alongside the pier, by providing the propelling apparatus in the space between both hulls. CONSTITUTION:Transmission shafts 7 and 7 are protruded to the inner lateral directions from the hulls 1A and 1B and the power is transmitted to a gear device 11. The transmission shafts 7 and 7 are supported by bearings 15 and 15 in combining beams 5 and 5 which combine the right and left hulls. The gear device 11 is arranged in parallel with each hull along a central line 14 of the ship and at the central part of a stream lined cover 6 supported by the combining beam 5. The right and left transmission shafts 7 and 7 are driven by prime movers 3 and 3 in the reverse directions to each other. Therefore, front and rear propeller shafts 8 and 8 are driven in the reverse directions to each other by the gear device 11 which is constituted by bevel gears. Namely front and rear propellers 9 and 10 are driven in the reverse directions to each other and generate the propelling force in the same direction. |
