PURPOSE:To heighten the efficiency of an electricity generation equipment, by connecting a diesel engine through a gear unit to a steam turbine driven by the exhaust heat energy of the engine and by aligning the output shaft of the steam turbine and the input shaft of an electricity generator to each other. CONSTITUTION:The exhaust heat energy of a diesel engine 4 is used to generate steam in a boiler 24 to drive a turbine 6. The output shaft 7 of the turbine 6 and that 3 of the diesel engine 4 are mechanically connected to each other through a gear unit 8. The output shaft 7 of the turbine and the input shaft of an electricity generator 2 are aligned to each other so that no speed increase and decrease are caused by gears. As a result, the arrangement of the electricity generation equipment is simplified, its cost is reduced and its efficiency is heightened. |
