PURPOSE:To prevent a flaw and a breakdown at the end surface part of a metallic mold for forming the connection case of an optical fiber, by providing a gap part between a fiber tip part to be sealed and the metallic mold. CONSTITUTION:In a metallic mold 1 for forming an optical fiber connection case 10, metallic molds 2 and 3 for supporting a fiber tip part are fitted. The tip of a fiber 5 is inserted into the hole parts 4 and 4 of those metallic molds 2 and 3 and resin is flowed in to form the case 10 wherein the fiber is sealed, but the depth of the hole parts 4 and 4 of the metallic molds 3 and 4 is so specified that gap parts 7 and 7 are formed at the ends of the fiber. Therefore, when the fiber is fixed in the metallic molds, the end surfaces never strike the metallic molds and neither a flaw nor a breakdown is caused. |
